What’s the Difference Between Dysport and Botox?

June 17, 2025

If you’ve ever found yourself squinting at fine lines in the mirror and Googling things like, “How to get rid of fine lines”, you’re not alone. And you’re definitely in the right place.

At Chronos Body Health & Wellness, we get this question all the time:
“What’s the difference between Botox and Dysport?”

Let’s break it down in real talk:

First Things First: What Do Botox and Dysport Actually Do?

Both Botox and Dysport are injectable treatments made from botulinum toxin type A. They work by gently relaxing targeted muscles to reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles, the lines that form from repeated facial movements like frowning, squinting, or raising your brows.

Common treatment areas:

  • Forehead lines
  • Frown lines (the “11s”)
  • Crow’s feet
  • Lip lines or lip flips
  • Brow lifts
  • Jawline slimming

They’re both effective, FDA-approved, and trusted by millions, including our own Chronos patients.

Botox vs. Dysport: What’s the Real Difference?

Both Botox and Dysport do the same thing at their core. They temporarily freeze the communication between your nerves and muscles to stop wrinkles from forming or deepening.

But here’s where they start to differ:

1. Molecular Structure & Spread

Dysport has a slightly smaller protein structure, which means it can spread a bit more once injected. This can be great for larger treatment areas (like the forehead), allowing a more even, “airbrushed” look.

Botox is slightly more concentrated, which can be helpful when precision is key, like around the eyes or lips.

2. How Fast You’ll See Results

On average, both Botox and Dysport last about 3–4 months, but this can vary. Some people report Dysport lasting a bit longer, but others metabolize Botox more slowly. It’s truly case-by-case, which is why we track your results over time and adjust accordingly.

3. How Long It Lasts

Here’s where it gets personal. On average, Dysport tends to last a bit longer for many of our clients, sometimes up to 4–5 months, compared to 3–4 months with Botox. But every face metabolizes differently, so we always evaluate based on your unique response and goals.

At Chronos, we offer both Dysport and Botox to our patients, and, rest assured, we’ll always choose what works best for you, not just what’s trendy.

So… Which One Should You Choose?

The honest answer? It depends on you, your facial anatomy, your goals, and how your body responds.

At Chronos, we never default to one over the other. Instead, we assess:

  • Muscle strength and movement
  • Desired treatment areas
  • Past injectable history (if any)
  • Your feedback on previous results

Then we customize your plan for the best possible outcome, whether that’s Botox, Dysport, or even a mix of both.
